Jessie Mae Jefferis-Ross, age 83, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Medicalodges Nursing Center in Fort Scott, Kansas.  Jessie was born on December 1, 1935, on the family farm near Bronson, Kansas, to Raymond Jackson and Bertha (Colgin) Jackson.   Jessie received an associate’s degree from Allen County Community College, Iola, Kansas.  She worked as a medical aid for many years. Jessie enjoyed sewing, crafting, making stained glass windows, gardening, woodworking and flowers.  She was extremely involved in her church, being a lay leader, and she supported her daughter in her medical missionary work in Mexico.  She loved her grandchildren.     Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Marvin “Ikey” Zornes; one daughter, Paula Morrow; her children's father, Marvin Dee Zornes; her former husband, Willis Jean Ross; and several brothers and sisters. Jessie is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Wolfe, Moran, Kansas, Tina Jones and husband, James, Moran, Kansas; one sister, Evelyn Larkey, Iola, Kansas; three brothers, Darrell Jackson and wife, Phyllis, Mound City, Kansas, Paul Jackson and wife, Mae, Mound City, Kansas, LeRoy Jackson and wife, Jeanne, Blue Mound, Kansas; grandchildren, Angela Miller, Susan Gentry, Randy Lafferty, Ashley Colgin, Travis Colgin, Sarah Colgin, Anthony Nelson, Corey Nelson, Andrew Nelson, Jeremy Jones, Jason Jones, Amanda Jones, Brandon Jones; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.    A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019, from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m., in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas.  A funeral service honoring Jessie’s life will be held Monday, April 8, 2019, at 1:30 p.m., in the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in Bronson Cemetery, Bronson, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas.
