Evelena "Missy" Thomas, age 63, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Missy was born May 30, 1957 to Leland and Cecil (Cane) Burns. She attended school in Neodesha, Kansas. She worked various jobs throughout her career. In November of 2007, she married the love of her life, Michael S. Thomas Jr. in Iola, Kansas.
Missy loved playing bingo, crocheting, and needle point. She enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. Missy was known for her generous heart and caring nature. She would do anything for anyone.
Missy is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lorrie; sister, Kathy; and brothers, Rufus and Orlis.
Missy is survived by her husband of the home, Michael Thomas; two sons, Christopher and Dwain Heilig, and wife, Tara; step-children, Ruth Tucker and husband, Steve, and Michael Thomas III and wife, Kelly; siblings, Boyd, John, Gloria, Deborah, Mary, and Betty; grandchildren, Jordan Heilig, Michael Heilig, Heaven Heilig, Emily Thomas, Katie Thomas, Michelle Chester, Robby Droessler, Mallory Tucker, Stephanie Tucker, Drew Tucker and their spouses; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola, Kansas. Family will greet friends prior to the service starting at 1:00 P.M.
Memorials in honor of Missy are suggested to the LaHarpe V.F.W. Post #6324 and may be left with the funeral home or mailed to 1883 U.S. Highway 54, Iola, Kansas 66749. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.feuerbornfuneral.com .
