Delores Jean Showalter

Delores Jean Showalter, age 83 passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019 in El Paso, Texas while surrounded by her family.

Delores Jean McGhee was born on January 7, 1936, in Colony, Kansas to Clem Everett and Yvonne Helen (Bain) McGhee. She grew up in Colony, Kansas and graduated from Colony High school. Delores married Glenn Westley Showalter on June 16, 1954, in Garnett, Kansas. Their union was blessed with four children. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage until Glenn's passing on October 31, 2008.

She loved working at Dillards where she excelled and still knew what name brands people are wearing today. Glenn and Delores built their dream home in Georgetown, Texas. They loved traveling to Hawaii, Europe, and around the country to visit family and friends. She lived the last 3 years sharing her time in Caballo, New Mexico with Janice and Phil and in El Paso with Liz and John. She would regularly travel to the Austin area to see Mike and Anna, her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved traveling, reading, and crafting. She especially loved talking on the phone with all her family and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Yvonne McGhee; husband, Glenn; daughter, Angela Nichols; grandson, Austin Nichols; son-in-law, Steve Nichols; brother, Gary McGhee; and sister, Sandra Spillman.

Delores is survived by her children Janice McClelland and husband, Philip of Caballo, Elizabeth Smith and husband, John of El Paso, Mike Showalter and wife, Anna of Round Rock, Texas; 13 precious grandchildren, Nikki, Derek, Kelli, Andrew, Cassandra, Philip Jr. (Mac), Roberto, Jennifer, William, Brittany, Adrian, Stephany, and Tyler; 10 great-grandchildren, Rylie, Kylie, Logan, Jayden, Nathaniel, Madisyn, Grayson, Ashton, Alessandra and Isabelle; brother, Ron McGhee of Colony; and nieces and nephews. She was loved very much and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 US Hwy 54 Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery Colony, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening, November 22, 2019 at the funeral home in Iola.
